Tattoo you

November 12, 2005 Edition 1

If you're into body art, get over to the Wavehouse at Gateway Theatre of Shopping, which will be hosting the first Durban Tattoo Convention this weekend.

The event will be a swirl of colour and entertainment, where our very own South African artists can really show off their talents.

Twenty artists from around the country will attend and bands performing will include Sugardrive, The Slashdogs, Karnage, Witchcraft, Rhutz. Also, DJs - including Dodgy Rodge and Digital Karma - will perform.

A live suspension will jumpstart the show - South Africa's first single suspension.

There will also be stalls selling and displaying tattoo equipment, clothes, jewellery and other goodies.

The tattoo artists will be competing for the best black and grey piece, tribal, celtic and full-colour portraits. Plus there's an overall prize for the best artist. Prizegiving is tomorrow night.

Tickets, at the door, are R50 for a day pass and R80 for the weekend.
